Configure Openfiler 2.3 as a basic NFS Server
From Oramosswiki
Assumptions
- 1 You have installed Openfiler 2.3, either as a VM or a standalone server.
- 2 You have network connectivity to that Openfiler 2.3 VM or server.
- 3 You have all the appropriate administrative privileges and logon credentials.
Instructions
1. Bring up the Web administration GUI URL of the OpenFiler server. The URL will generally be of the form https://<IP Address>:446. The example below shows the logon for a VM based installation - your IP address may vary.
2. Log in to OpenFiler using the appropriate credentials. If you are using the pre built VM for version 2.3, then the username is "openfiler" and password is "password":
3. Enable the NFS service by clicking on the "Services" tab and then clicking on "Enable" for the NFSv3 Server.
4. Add a network by clicking on the "System" tab. By default the network settings page is shown - if this isn't what you see then click on "Network Setup" from the right hand menu. I'm no networking expert, so I can't fully explain what to put in here, but basically, I left the hostname as "localhost.localdomain", set the Primary DNS IP address and configured network access for the server I wish to access the NFS Server - I haven't tested it yet, but I guess I can set this to be at the subnet level so that all hosts on my internal network can access the server - but since I only had the one machine I wanted to be able to access the NFS server, I've set it to the IP of that server. After adding the network access, the screen looks like this:
6. Next, I created a partition by clicking on the "Volumes" tab and clicking on "Block Devices" on the right hand menu. In this example, the server running Openfiler is a VM configured with a system disk for the OS and an 8GB data disk for shared storage. I created a partition on the data disk using the whole of the disk.
